Our Green Efforts:

Playa Caribe is helping to keep Akumal beautiful. In recognition for our ongoing efforts, Playa Caribe Condos earned the Sustainable Tourism Certificate from CEA.
Road Repair and Roadside Cleanup
We have been very involved in keeping our road free of litter and helping, physically and monetarily, to keep it repaired.
Recycling
We encourage recycling at Playa Caribe. We have separate containers for glass, plastic and aluminum and tin cans.
Water Conservation
Why is this an issue?
These groundwater resources, accessed via the thousands of cenotes throughout the landscape, once supported the Maya civilizations and today remain the only natural sources of potable water in the area.
We encourage our guests to help us conserve water. We have signs telling guests that the towels and washcloths will be replaced when left on the floor. We will, of course, change them more often if requested, but we hope the towels will be used more than once before laundering.
Community Involvement
We are members of Friends of Yal-ku and we are generous with our donations to the Akumal area.
